Our random plank oak doors are the closest you can get to the simple cottage design of the early 1400’s. Constructed with tongue and grooved, bead moulded boards and 3 chamfered ledges to the reverse. This is a simple and traditional style lending itself perfectly to cottages and period properties.
This door style can accommodate glazing apertures, but set only between the ledges, so be aware they are not always at head height. This does add to the overall effect of this characterful door.
Ledged plank oak doors can be made to any thickness from 20mm up to 55mm thick. This helps if you are fitting into an existing door frame enabling you to match the rebate that is already in place.
New solid oak door frames are also available, most commonly 95 x 70mm in section, rebated to house the door with modern weather seals. Thresholds can be solid or suitable for mobility access (Part M Compliant).
If you have the luxury of a wide opening, glazed or solid oak side panels can be added to your door frame to create more light.
Doors come finished in a base coat of Osmo UV Protection Oil, requiring two further coats.
